5x-3y=8 ; 3x+y=2
When you get this type of sums then you need to see the signs first.
Give the equation the number and then start.
Solution
5x-3y=8 -----(1)
3x+ y=2 -----(2)
Then here we can see that there are two opposite sign.
So if we multiply the equation 2 by 3 then it will easily get eliminated.
So multiplying equation 2 by 3
9x+3y=6 ----(4)
5x- 3y=8 ----(1)
__________
14x = 14
x = 14/14
x = 1
Substituting x =1 in equation 2
3x+y =2
3(1)+y=2
3+y =2
y= 2-3
y=-1
Therefore (x,y) = (1, -1)
Very simple.
